Brillamps
Lamps made from Venetian Bricola Wood

Brillamps are born from an idea of circularity and reuse of urban materials. To organize the system of mooring and navigation in the Venetian lagoon, special oak wooden poles are placed along the canals—these are known to Venetians as bricole. Worn by time, by the saltwater, and by the lagoon’s flora, these poles need to be replaced frequently. However, they are often not removed in time and end up lying along the shores and canals, posing a potential hazard to navigation. Living in the city, Nicola salvages these abandoned poles and transforms them into unique pieces with a distinctive and iconic design. This is how Brillamps are born: circularity, sustainability, identity.

Each Brillamp is one of a kind. Accessories can be customized to create an even more unique look that best fits the design of your space. All the different processes—carving, sculpting, decorating, and treating—are inspired by the architectural and natural details of the city and lagoon of Venice. Contact me for a custom Brillamp!
